A new day means a new Wordle puzzle to solve and if you're struggling to figure out the answer, Newsweek is here to help you out.
The game was created by software engineer Josh Wardle because he wanted to help keep his crossword-loving partner entertained during the COVID-19 lockdown. Realizing that other people might enjoy solving Wordle's daily brainteasers, he uploaded the puzzle online.
Following its debut, Wordle exploded from 90 users on November 1, 2021, to 300,000 on January 2, 2022, according to figures by Statista. Thanks to its popularity, The New York Times bought it in early 2022 for a seven-figure sum.
The rules of Wordle are easy to follow. At midnight, in whatever location you're in, a new five-letter word appears on the website or app and players have six chances to figure it out.

The answer can be a noun, adjective or verb and players are helped by a color-coded system. A tile will become green when players guess the correct letter. The letter will become yellow if it appears in the word, but not where the user has placed it and the tile will turn gray if the letter does not appear in the word at all.
Erhan Aslan, an expert in applied linguistics at the University of Reading in the U.K., shared with Newsweek some tactics on how to improve your chances of solving the daily puzzle.
"One thing that I think is important in this game is the starting letter chosen," Aslan said. "Starting off with letters that include commonly used vowels, for example, e and a, consonants such as r and t, and sound sequences might be helpful.
"Choosing a word that starts with q, z, j, or x, for instance, may not be the best choice. As you get more feedback after a few guesses, users need to draw on some knowledge of phonics to narrow down or eliminate some words that they might be thinking."
Newsweek has put together a few hints to help you solve today's Wordle puzzle but if you want to figure it out yourself, be careful, as the answer is below.
